The best crypto app is the one whose fees you have actually read: entry-tier rates for every venue with a mobile app
Almost every venue in this index ships a mobile app, so choosing the best crypto app is not a choice between apps at all. It is a choice between the fee schedules behind them, and the gap between the cheapest and dearest entry tier here is twelvefold. The app also decides which route you take by default, and the default route is usually the expensive one.

How to choose between apps
- Ignore the app, read the schedule behind it. Nearly every venue here ships an app, so the choice is between fee schedules rather than interfaces. The spread at the entry tier across these venues is twelvefold.
- Find the order book inside the app. Retail apps lead with instant buy, which is priced well above the order book: 1% against 0.1% at CoinSpot, 1% against 0.10% at CoinJar. The cheaper route is usually two taps away on the same app.
- Fund by bank, not by card. CoinSpot lists PayID and direct deposits as free, CoinJar lists PayID, Osko and NPP at no fee, and Swyftx lists AUD bank transfers as free. Their card routes are 1.22%, 2% and up to 2.4%.
- Re-check the tier once you have volume. Every venue's rate falls with 30-day volume. The entry tier is where you start, not where you stay, and the tables published above show where the next band begins.
Retail apps lead with instant buy. CoinSpot prints 0.1% on market orders and 1% on instant buy, sell and swap, a tenfold difference for the same asset on the same venue, decided entirely by which screen you use. CoinJar charges 0.10% on its exchange and 1% on cryptocurrency-to-cryptocurrency purchases, rising to 2% on a Visa or Mastercard purchase.
The order book is nearly always cheaper than the button the app puts in front of you, and on most apps it is two taps away.
Among venues serving Australia, Swyftx advertises trading fees from 0.1% tiered to 0.6%, CoinSpot charges 0.1% on market orders, CoinJar Exchange 0.10% both sides in its first band, Independent Reserve starts at 0.5%, and BTC Markets 0.85% on AUD and USDT pairs under 500 dollars of 30-day volume. Among the global venues, Bitget and OKX both start at 0.1% taker, Crypto.com Exchange at 0.500% taker, and Gemini ActiveTrader at 1.200%.
Card deposits are priced separately and far higher than trades. CoinSpot's card deposit is 1.22%, CoinJar's card purchase 2%, and Swyftx publishes AUD card deposits as possibly attracting up to 2.4%. Bank transfer is free at several of them: CoinSpot lists PayID and direct deposits as free, CoinJar lists PayID, Osko and NPP deposits at no fee.
On a first funding of any size the rail you pick matters more than the trading fee you spent an evening comparing.
This site earns a share of the trading fees generated by accounts opened through its links, which is a transaction-based arrangement and is disclosed on every link as rel=sponsored. The comparison is ordered by published fee, taken from each venue's own page, and venues that pay nothing at all sit in the same table on the same terms.
Crypto trading puts your capital at risk. Nothing on this page recommends a venue, an asset or a course of action.
Common questions
- Which crypto app is cheapest?
- On the order book, the venues starting at 0.1% - Bitget, OKX, CoinSpot, CoinJar and Swyftx. On the instant-buy route the same apps charge up to 1%, so the answer depends on which screen you use.
- Why compare fees rather than features?
- A fee is published, checkable and charged on every trade. Feature lists are written by the venue and change without notice.
- Does the app charge a different fee from the website?
- Not usually. What differs is the default route: apps lead with instant buy, which is priced well above the order book on most retail venues.
- Are these fees in AUD or USD?
- They are percentages of trade value, so the currency does not change them. Deposit charges are priced per rail and are listed in the currency each venue publishes.
